Winona Ryder - Winona Lauro Horowitz was born in Winona Minnesota. Parents of Winona Ryder named her for the town she grew up in. Her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder's father was born into an ethnically Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. Uria is Ryder's younger sister. Jubal, Sunyata and Sunyata are her half-siblings. Ryder moved together with her family to Mendocino County California at the age of seven. They lived in a place without electricity. Ryder would read extensively due to the lack of television. Ryder started taking classes in acting at the American Conservatory Theatre in 1983 at the age of 12. She landed her debut role on the big screen in 1986 aged 15 years old. old.
