Jeanie Marie Buss (born Jeanie Marie Buss) is an American woman of business. She is currently the president and the controlling owner of Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association. Buss comes originally from California, was raised in an very wealthy family. Jerry Buss is her father. He was an estate tycoon, and later the owner of Lakers and other enterprises. The couple divorced in 1972 and she began to feel that she was emotionally abandoned. At the age 19 she was appointed the general manager for the Los Angeles Strings, a professional tennis team. Later, she founded the Los Angeles Blades roller hockey professional team. Before she became vice president of the Lakers in 2013, she was president of Great Western Forum. Buss along with her five brothers and sisters and their father who owned the Lakers and controlled them up to his death in 2013, inherited this ownership by way of a trust. The five siblings had equal vote rights. She assumed her duties as the president of Los Angeles Lakers. Buss is also partner in the ownership of Women of Wrestling (a Los Angeles-based pro-wrestling association).
